ATC Taskforce on information technology organization at UIS:
Charge: Provost Cheney has asked ATC to examine the current organization of information technology at UIS in terms of support for teaching and learning and to recommend a structure that would best facilitate the use of technology to support the academic mission of the campus. Since so many members of ATC are IT administrators, we are asking you, the faculty and academic professional members of ATC, to undertake this evaluation. A group composed of Mike Bohl, Farokh Eslahi, Stephen Rohrer and Ray Schroeder has prepared the attached document that you may want to use as a starting point. In your deliberations, please consult with the stakeholders in the various IT organizations on campus, i.e. the authors of the attached proposal, their supervisors and staff in the various IT units. In addition, please seek wide input from the students, faculty and staff who are the users of IT services on this campus.

As you are aware, over the years ATC has discussed various problems with provision of information technology services at UIS. We now have an opportunity to recommend a new structure that will result in improved IT services. As part of your deliberations, please consider the importance of communication and decision-making in successful organizations.
